What is the Federal Reserve?

What is the FOMC?

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is the monetary policymaking body of the Federal Reserve. It meets eight times a year to set the target federal funds rate.

  • NY Fed President (permanent)
  • 4 rotating regional presidents
FOMC Voting Rotation

The FOMC has 12 voting members. The 7 Board governors and NY Fed president always vote. The remaining 4 votes rotate annually among the other 11 regional Fed presidents.
